What does it mean? What do I do about it?
Example alert from the Protop Portal:
What does it mean?
This is the size of before image clusters in MB for the listed database. Larger bi-clusters allow more time between checkpoints which, in turn, allows the asynchronous writers more time to smooth out spikes in the workload.
What to do?
Increase the bi-cluster size to at least 16. Changing the bi-cluster size must be done offline and requires that any replication targets be re-seeded.
1. Use the PROSHUT command or the PROMON Shutdown a Database option to shut down the database.
2. Enter the following command:
proutil db-name -C truncate bi -bi size
For size, specify the new cluster size in kilobytes. The number must be a multiple of 16 in the range of 16 to 262128 (16K-256MB). The default cluster size is 512K. Cluster sizes from 512 to 16384 are common.
