What does it mean? What do I do about it?
Example alert from the ProTop Portal:
What does it mean?
This alert indicates you are using many active BI clusters; over 100 typically indicates potential unexpected application behavior, like old transactions preventing BI cluster re-use.
What to do?
Investigate the high BI use. Start with the alert popup like the image above. It shows the Top Long Transactions, including the name and user number.
Is this issue occurring due to batch processing? This is not unusual for large batch updates.
Look for other related alerts, like otrx Old Transaction, on the ProTop Portal Alerts Dashboard.
Is it an end user who has completed a task that started a transaction? Reach out to the user listed to have them complete their task or back out of the application to clear the old transaction. Otherwise, the user number is also listed in the alert, which can be used to disconnect them from the database.
