What is the purpose of etc/pt3rt.cfg?

What is this new pt3rt configuration file for?

Starting with ProTop 319 etc/pt3rt.cfg is in included in the ProTop package.

Much like the data collectors listed in the ptInitDC variable in etc/pt3agent.cfg, which tells the ProTop agent which data collectors this agent should be running, etc/pt3rt.cfg tells ProTop Real Time (RT) which data collectors it should be running in the background.

Just like etc/pt3agent.cfg, this configuration file follows the ProTop file naming hierarchy, allowing you to customize the data collectors that ProTop RT starts on a resource by resource basis.

For example, different resources, e.g. databases, can run different OpenEdge features or even different versions of OpenEdge.  One database may use replication, CDC, Pro2, etc., and another one not.  Having overrides allows you to configure this on a per-resource basis.

Also, this lets the “of interest” feature of ProTop Core know which DCs should be considered potentially interesting.
