What does it mean? What do I do about it?
Example alert from the ProTop Portal:
What does it mean?
The listed mount/file system percent used has exceeded the threshold for this alert. This is just the first breach ProTop detected. The zDiskFree alert enhancer in the alert definition in etc/alert.*.cfg provides the table at the bottom of the alert message. The file system size and free space are shown for all file systems so you can see other file systems that might be approaching the threshold and address them all at once.
Here is the alert definition in etc/alert.*.cfg:
fsPctUsed num > 50 "" "60" "Disk space % &1 &2 &3" zDiskFree,alert
The most recent version of ProTop includes the zDiskFree alert enhancer in all alerts related to disk space. If you don't see it in your definitions, you can add it, and the new definition will be picked up automatically; you don't need to restart ProTop. If your default etc/alert.cfg does not show this enhancer, please upgrade your version of ProTop.
What to do?
Review ALL of your disk space usage on this server. Study the table at the bottom of the alert message. Other file systems may be at risk. ProTop sends this alert for the first disk space issue it finds on a given server. Add or clean up space before the file system fills, preventing further writes, which could stall your database and application.
