What does it mean? What do I do about it?
Example alert from the ProTop Portal:
What does it mean?
Logical read activity is high. This may indicate unexpected application behavior. This alert is enhanced to list the highest-read tables and indexes and the users with the highest logical reads on the database.
Reads are usually the most significant driver of activity within the DB engine. Knowing which tables and indexes are most active can go a long way toward focusing code improvement efforts.
What to do?
Investigate the source of high-read activity. See this article on Finding Code: Excessive Reads using ProTop RT.
