What does it mean? What do I do about it?
Example alert from the ProTop Portal:
What does it mean?
This indicates that rows-per-block is at its default value for all Storage Areas. You are running the risk of fragmentation (records spanning multiple blocks), which contributes to unnecessary IO, and wasted space in the database, when you do not optimize your storage structure for your actual data.
What to do?
Use rpt/dbname.tbl.rpt (created by the automated health check) to help determine appropriate rows-per-block settings and dump & load.
See ProTop's dump & load scripts for help with this.
