ProTop Real-Time (RT) on Windows can, at times, not behave as expected with executing command keys that include a control key sequence (i.e., ctrl-A or ^a). Here's what to do.
This behavior can be caused by a property of the Windows command application (cmd.exe) known as "Enable Ctrl key shortcuts." Odd things can happen when that box is checked for the window you are running your ProTop RT session in. A common issue is that when using ctrl-A, the top of the screen changes color (to Windows, ctrl-A means select-all), and the expected after-image status info is not displayed.
Not to worry. Right-click on the header of the window you are running your ProTop session or, or better yet, the shortcut you used to start the command window. Then select Properties from the pop-up, then the Options tab. Uncheck the "Enable Ctrl key shortcuts" box. Restart ProTop RT, and you should be all set.
Another option is to select the "Use legacy console" from the Options tab. YMMV.
